Dermal Filler Post-Treatment Instructions

(Hyaluronic Acid & Biostimulatory Fillers)

All dermal filler treatments at MD Esthetics are medical procedures performed in accordance with state regulations and under the oversight of our Medical Director.

After Your Appointment

  • Keep the treated area clean and dry for the remainder of the day.
  • Apply a cool compress gently to reduce swelling or tenderness as needed.
Do not apply ice directly to the skin.
  • Sleep on your back with your head elevated the first night, if possible.
  • Resume normal skincare later the same day using light pressure only, avoiding treated areas.
  • Stay well hydrated unless otherwise instructed by your provider.
  • Avoid NSAIDs (ibuprofen) and take Acetaminophen (Tylenol) for any discomfort
  • Your provider may direct you to apply Arnica gel to the site of injection and/or take an antihistamine (Claritin, Zyrtec)

Please Avoid

For the first 24 hours:

  • Touching, rubbing, or massaging the treated areas unless directed by your provider
  • Strenuous exercise or activities that increase heart rate significantly
  • Alcohol consumption
  • Excessive heat exposure (saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs)

For 48 hours:

  • Facials, massages, or cosmetic treatments in the treated areas
  • Makeup directly over injection sites if skin is broken or irritated

For 7–14 days:

  • Dental procedures or routine dental cleanings, unless cleared by your provider
  • Any elective facial or aesthetic treatments unless approved.

What to Expect

    • Swelling, redness, tenderness, firmness, or asymmetry are common and temporary
  • Bruising may occur and typically resolves within 7–14 days
  • Fillers may feel firm initially and will soften as they integrate
  • Final results are typically visible once swelling has fully resolved

Individual results vary based on product used, anatomy, injection technique, and adherence to post-care instructions.
