Sculptra Post-Treatment Instructions

Sculptra works gradually by stimulating your body’s own collagen production. Results develop over several weeks and improve with each session.

What to Expect

  • Swelling, redness, tenderness, or bruising at injection sites for 3–7 days
  • Firmness or small bumps (usually temporary)
  • Full results develop gradually over 6–12 weeks
  • Multiple sessions may be recommended for optimal results

The 5-5-5 Rule (VERY IMPORTANT)

Massage the treated areas:

  • 5 minutes
  • 5 times per day
  • For 5 days

Use a gentle moisturizer or clean hands while massaging. This helps evenly distribute the product and reduce the risk of nodule formation.

First 24–48 Hours

  • Apply a cold compress (10–15 minutes at a time) to reduce swelling.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise.
  • Avoid alcohol to minimize bruising.
  • Avoid excessive sun or heat exposure (sauna, hot yoga, steam rooms).
  • Do not apply makeup for at least 12 hours.

For 1 Week

  • Avoid facials, lasers, microneedling, or aggressive skin treatments.
  • Avoid dental procedures if possible.
  • Sleep on your back if feasible.
  • Continue gentle skincare.

Bruising & Swelling Tips

  • Arnica (topical or oral) may help reduce bruising.
  • Avoid blood-thinning supplements unless prescribed (fish oil, vitamin E, aspirin, ibuprofen).
  • Stay well hydrated.

When to Call Us

Contact the office immediately if you experience:

  • Increasing pain
  • Severe swelling
  • Skin discoloration (white, gray, or dark areas)
  • Signs of infection (warmth, fever, drainage)
  • Persistent firm nodules that do not improve

Important Reminder

Sculptra does not provide instant volume like traditional fillers. The initial fullness you see is from sterile water and will subside in a few days. True results appear gradually as collagen builds.
